Salt Therapy / Halotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Salt therapy, also called halotherapy, is a holistic method that reproduces the natural micro climate of a salt cave by dispersing saline aerosol in a high concentration in a booth whose surfaces are covered with layers of salt. The dry pharmaceutical grade salt  salt aerosol in the booth plays an important role in the relief of health problems, and is used for patients with respiratory problems and skin conditions.

The benefits of salt therapy are wide-ranging. … The negatively charged ions in salt improve our health and mood. Inhaling particles may reduce inflammation and mucus in the lungs, improving respiratory conditions such as asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinus congestion and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Skin conditions can also be improved with halotherapy (psoriasis, rashes, eczema, acne).

We recommend between 10 to 15 minutes. Our Salt Booth only require 10 to 15 minute sessions as the salt concentration is higher than a salt cave.

We do not have showers However, we do provide you a cool towel infused with essential oils to wipe down with after your session.

Since dry salt therapy is 100% natural and drug free, there are no negative side effects. After sessions, you may experience a slight cough, minor tightness in the chest or runny nose, but this is simply the salt doing its work to remove mucus and toxins from the lungs and airways.

Our modern architecturally designed Salt Booth was created to provide an effective and personalized salt therapy experience in a private setting that provides individual and personalized skin and lung therapy. Our Salt Booth 15 minute sessions are equivalent to a 45 min salt cave session due to the higher concentration of pharmaceutical grade salt emitted from the salt generator within the salt booth.

The salt booths are semi private with a privacy wall separating the booths.

Comfortable clothing is recommended for the salt booth. You may change into clothing that exposes areas of skin you would like the salt to reach (shorts, sleeveless shirts, etc).

Contraindications – This treatment is not recommended for patients suffering from any of the symptoms below:

  • Acute stage of respiratory attack
  • Stage 3 Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Intoxication due to alcohol or non-prescription drugs
  • Cardiac insufficiency
  • Haemorrhage
  • Haemoptysis (spitting up blood)
  • Stage 11B Hypertension

For people with colds, flu symptoms, ear infections or other temporary respiratory discomforts, 1 to 8 sessions can be very effective. For chronic respiratory and dermatological conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, allergies, psoriasis, etc., it is strongly recommended to complete 12 to 20 sessions of 15 minutes each, in as short a time period as is feasible. Salt booth treatment is most effective when it is administered at least twice a week or more frequently. It is advisable to repeat the therapy 1 to 3 times per year to maintain the positive results. For recreational, relaxation and stress relieving purposes, sessions can be taken as many times as desired.

Infrared Saunas

Frequently Asked Questions

Infrared light is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum. They are the healthiest rays, with the ability to penetrate into the skin deeply as they dissolve harmful substances accumulated in your body. The sun is the primary source of radiant energy, but not all of this energy is beneficial. Although life needs energy from the sun, the sunlight’s ultraviolet rays damage the skin. Far infrared heat provides all the healthy benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous effects of solar radiation.

At least once a week is ideal, but you can sauna as often as you like! It is a great complement to your exercise routine, and also perfect for a rest or recovery day. Find what works best for you and your body’s needs.

We recommend between 30 to 40 minutes for each sauna session.

The less the better, to allow maximum skin exposure for the release of sweat. This could be a bathing suit, shorts and a tank, etc. We also provide a towel wrap for each guest to use in the sauna if they wish. We recommend bringing a water bottle (we provide a water cooler to refill your bottle) and we also provide alkalized water to drink during your session.

With infrared sauna technology, you can also lose weight, relax, relieve unwanted pain, increase your circulation, and purify your skin.

Additional benefits include:

  • Detoxification
  • Pain relief
  • Weight loss
  • Quicker muscle and injury recovery
  • Improved circulation
  • Improved skin appearance (can improve acne as well)
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Stress relief
  • Improved sleep

Far-infrared waves penetrate 1.5 inches or more into our body, raising the core body temperature and producing a deep and detoxifying sweat at a cellular level. The sweat glands offer one of only a few mechanisms that the body has to eliminate toxins and since the skin is the largest organ in the human body, it is very good means for elimination.
When far infrared waves are applied to water molecules (comprising 70% of our body) these molecules begin to vibrate. This vibration reduces the ion bonds and the eventual breakdown of the water molecules causes encapsulated gases and other toxic materials to be released.

Infrared heat is gentle on the body. It feels similar to lying outside on a warm day, but shaded from the harsh ultraviolet rays. Unlike traditional saunas, which often operate around 200 degrees Fahrenheit or more, infrared stays a more comfortable temperature of 120-140 degrees. Traditional saunas heat the air instead of the body directly, which can make them unbearably hot and breathing difficult. Because infrared penetrates human tissue instead of heating the skin’s surface, they are seven times more effective at detoxifying the body. The sweat produced by a traditional sauna might have only 3% toxins, while infrared can produce sweat comprised of up to 20% toxins.

Yes, your sauna is located in a private suite where you can relax uninterrupted.

We encourage using your time in the sauna as a moment to relax and meditate, and allow the infrared heat to melt away any stress or fatigue you may be experiencing. If this is not appealing to you, then the options are endless! You can bring a book, magazine, or even your phone or tablet into the sauna to pass the time. If you are feeling more active, you may choose to do exercises such as stretching or yoga.

Absolutely! Our saunas accommodate 2-3 people, and we charge individually. If you do choose to sauna with a friend or loved one, please be mindful and keep your conversations to a considerate volume as the saunas are not completely sound proof. Please note that our online system cannot make reservations for more than one person in a sauna, so please call us to schedule this type of appointment.

Power Plates

Frequently Asked Questions

Power-Plate is a machine that gives the body’s muscles a high-speed workout by using vibrations to stimulate them to contract and relax. They generally contract once or twice a second, but by standing on the Power-Plate, its vibrations cause an automatic reflex muscle contraction of 30-50 a second.

The benefits of Power Plate have been recognized by the medical profession and studies have shown an abundance of health benefits can be gained including:

  • Improved muscle strength and power
  • Improved flexibility and range of motion
  • Reduced pain and soreness with faster recovery
  • Reduced appearance of cellulite
  • Increased bone mineral density and prevention of bone mineral density loss related to ageing
  • Improved circulation, cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory functions
  • Improved balance, mobility and strength among the elderly and inactive population
  • Reduced Visceral Adipose Tissue among overweight and obese patients
  • Decreased body fat and increased lean muscle tissue in postmenopausal women
  • Improved walking function in those with spinal cord injury
  • Reduced pain and fatigue in people with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.

We recommend 3-4 times per week. Your muscles need to recover after exercise. It is important to limit the number of sessions to 3-4 sessions per week.

We recommend 10-15 minutes. Power-Plate is a great time-saver due to the effectiveness of training and the fact that many muscle groups are activated at the same time. It’s stated that 10 minutes on the Power-Plate will have the same results as 60 minutes of conventional strenuous training. Power-Plate is like the microwave of fitness – you can do as little as 10 minutes and still achieve a great workout.

Red Light Therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Hollywood stars and Harvard researchers agree: light therapy is great for your skin! Light therapy harnesses the healing power of natural light to rejuvenate your skin cells, boost collagen production, and diminish signs of aging. A-List Hollywood estheticians like Shani Darden insist on red light for their superstar clients. Leading researchers at Harvard and elsewhere have documented light therapy’s ability to lessen wrinkles, lines, and spots, and improve skin tone & complexion. There are no drugs or notable side effects, and all you have to do is expose your skin to healing red light for 10 minutes a day.

Some of the benefits of Red Light Therapy include:

  • Repairs sun- or acne-related skin damage
  • Enhances muscle recovery and peak performance
  • Fades scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks
  • Speeds wound healing
  • Reduces joint inflammation
  • Helps with infertility

While both are very beneficial, light therapy and saunas are quite different in terms of their mechanism of action. Saunas rely on heat to produce biological effects, whereas red light therapy devices produce almost no heat at all. Instead, red light therapy devices deliver wavelengths of natural light directly to your skin and cells.

Specific wavelengths of natural light have some amazing effects on the mitochondria in our cells, helping them to produce more energy for our bodies. Instead of using heat, red light therapy literally feeds energy into our cells with photons from natural light.

Additionally, red light therapy works faster than a sauna. A typical session is only 10 minutes.

Light therapy is safe, non-invasive, uses no chemicals or drugs, and is not associated with harmful side effects. It simply harnesses the natural healing and rejuvenating benefits of a specific range of therapeutic light and delivers this targeted energy at a higher rate than the sun—without harmful UV rays. A major 2013 study conducted by Harvard and MIT researchers praised light therapy for its “noninvasive nature and almost complete absence of side effects.”
